Dear Friends,

Getting where you need to go is an important part of daily life. Transportation is something we all rely on. However, for people with disabilities, getting around can sometimes be harder.

At Tennessee Disability Pathfinder, we want to help make things easier. This month’s newsletter, On the Move: Navigating Transportation with Disabilities, is all about finding ways to get from place to place. We’re highlighting services and resources across Tennessee that can help you or your loved ones with transportation needs.

In Tennessee, there are several options available. I’m introducing you to three services that provide different kinds of help here:

For Middle Tennessee:

In the Middle Tennessee area, Music City Taxi offers rides for people who use wheelchairs or other mobility devices. Their taxis are set up to work with different types of wheelchairs, including larger power chairs. You can schedule a ride when you need one, and they serve people of all ages. If you need a reliable way to get around town, this is a good option to consider.

For East Tennessee:

If you live in East Tennessee and want to drive your own car, Superior Van and Mobility is a place to consider. They can make changes to your car, SUV, or truck to fit your needs. They offer a wide selection of new and used wheelchair vans, wheelchair lifts, scooter carriers, mobility seating, and driving equipment. If you want an adapted vehicle, they can help make that happen.

For West Tennessee:

In West Tennessee, the Jackson Transit Authority runs a service called The LIFT. This service provides rides to people who need extra help getting around. Rides cost $2.50 each way, and you need to schedule them at least 24 hours in advance. If you need to go to work, school, or anywhere else, The LIFT can get you there.

What Else We’ll Cover

This newsletter is packed with helpful information about transportation services and tips for planning your travel. Whether you’re looking for a way to get around town, modify your car, or explore public transit options, we’ve got you covered.

You can also visit our website, www.tnpathfinder.org, to search for even more services in your area.

Getting around is important for everyone. We hope this newsletter helps you find the right tools and services to meet your needs. Thank you for letting Tennessee Disability Pathfinder be part of your journey.

Sincerely,

Carvis Russell
