Policies that work. Programs that work. Systems that work.
While the pandemic has meant that we are NOT meeting in-person, it has provided a tremendous opportunity for Tennesseans from across the state to meet with their representatives, face-to-virtual-face. This year we’re building on that opportunity to put together teams of fierce Tennesseans advocating for systems and policies that WORK, and calling out systems and policies that DON’T WORK.
This year it’s all about TeamWorkTN!
From Memphis to Mountain City, DDH registrants will be organized into teams of 12, and the Tennessee Disability Coalition will schedule meetings with their elected representatives, in a town-hall fashion. Legislators get to hear directly from constituents, and DDH attendees can discuss challenges unique to their local communities.
On January 25th, we’ll kick things off with a special DDH 2022 Advocacy Webinar to prepare forks for virtual advocacy, and what we’re hoping to accomplish this legislative session. We’ll talk about making the most of your team meetings, explain the policies we’re advocating for, and what it’ll take to get them passed.
From February 21st – March 7th, we’ll be setting up Team meetings with legislators, and will prep you and your team to attend.
On March 11th we’ll be celebrating Disability Advocacy Day in Tennessee, where we get to reflect and celebrate our accomplishments, while dozens of formidable Tennessee landmarks will light up “coalition blue” in a sign of solidarity with the disability community.
Free T-shirt and Swag Bags will be sent to all registrants that register by January 24th (or while supplies last). If you haven’t already RSVP’d, please do so ASAP using this link: https://form.jotform.com/213492773819063 or by calling (615) 383-9442.
