Research is a key component for making new discoveries and improving the lives of people with disabilities. It can also provide participants insight and support regarding their conditions, especially when there is a gap in services. Here are a few studies that may be of interest.

Autism Support Services Study

The Transitions Lab is currently looking for volunteers to participate in focus groups. We are recruiting individuals with autism, parents of individuals with autism, special education teachers, and adult disability service providers to give us feedback on a program we are developing. The program will provide teachers with resources to better support students with autism and their families in accessing adult disability services.

Participation involves 2 online focus groups (or individual interviews) where you will be asked to share your thoughts on presented materials for a transition planning program. These will be 1-3 months apart and take up to 2 hours.

Compensation is provided.

If you are interested in participating, please go to this link https://redcap.link/TASK to see if you are eligible.

If you have any questions, please contact transitionslab@vumc.org.

Thank you for considering this opportunity to contribute to autism research!

Pregnancy and Brain Development Study

Vanderbilt researchers are seeking people who are pregnant for a 2 year study focused on infant experiences and brain development! Prospective parents will be asked to participate in interviews, complete questionnaires, and use small, wearable devices to track movement and family interactions. Following birth, your baby will be invited to complete a non-invasive MRI scan at three time points (ages 1, 6, and 12 months) to track how their brain is changes. Parents will also complete interviews and interaction activities. Eligible participants will be compensated $25 per hour and $20 each day of using the devices (with a total compensation estimated as $1,350 across the study). We will schedule visits around your availability (daytime, evenings, or weekends!).
