Extending Support Through the Homeplace Legacy Fund: Support That Lasts Beyond the Season

For more than three decades, Homeplace served as a true home for four remarkable women with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Supported by Belmont United Methodist Church, devoted caregivers, and friends, they built full and meaningful lives together for 33 years.

When the Homeplace residence closed in 2021, its story continued in a new way. To honor the women who lived there and extend the mission of care they inspired, the Homeplace Legacy Fund was established. Its purpose is to provide small grants that help individuals with IDD and their families address special needs that go beyond daily living expenses.

Continuing the Mission

The Homeplace Legacy Fund Small Grant Program provides targeted support for the “extras” that enhance life and promote personal growth. These grants are designed to fill small but important gaps that can make a lasting difference.

Funds may be used for

  • Adaptive or specialized equipment
  • Training, classes, or educational opportunities
  • Support for caregivers’ learning or skill development
  • Programs and activities that enrich daily living

Grants cannot be used for regular living expenses or to pay debts. Instead, they are intended to create opportunities that improve the quality of life and encourage greater independence for people with IDD.
