We’re shining a light on organizations, agencies, programs, volunteers, resources, families, and individuals, that serve the disability community.
A plan to connect people wth disabilities to employment.
Our friends at the VU Tennessee Employment Pathways Project are offering an exciting opportunity. This project is for family members (parents, guardians, siblings) of adults with intellectual disability or autism who are interested in helping their family member connect to a paid job.
This project provides a FREE 4-session short course of classes hosted over Zoom to support parents and other family members in navigating adult disability services related to employment. The classes focus on how to connect with Vocational Rehabilitation, ECF Choices, transportation, and other employment-related resources as well as how to reach out to employers and businesses. Family members will have the opportunity to learn alongside and connect with other families. For one year after the 4-session class, we will check in with families every month to see how the process of connecting to paid employment is going. Families receive $250 for participating. We are offering short course sessions through April 2023.
