CALLER:
I never ever thought I would be going hungry or that my family would be one of the families without enough food. This pandemic has really hurt us in so many ways. My hours were cut in half. My neighbor said to call Pathfinder, that you had helped her find financial assistance for her light bill. So, I’m calling. I signed up for food stamps but that doesn’t go very far. My three children have been getting food through their school’s food program, and that helps. But we need more help. Two of my children have developmental disabilities, and the one with autism, he’s 8, is the pickiest eater I’ve ever seen. There’s only a handful of foods he will eat– children’s name brand products, individually wrapped — and they are expensive at the grocery store. I’ve already gotten help with the light bill. What else can I do to have enough for us to eat?
PATHFINDER:
Great question! We can assist you with finding food programs in your area. Some food boxes will help balance your tight budget, so that you can have enough food stamps for the special items at the grocery store. There are several organizations in our database which provide food assistance. When there is more need than that, we go searching for additional resources to meet your needs. Sometimes we find food pantries which open once a week or once a month in a local church. We often find food pantries using a large distribution base website such as Second Harvest Food Bank, or the United Way database. Just because a smaller local organization is not in the Pathfinder database, doesn’t mean we don’t search for it for you.
Here are links to all the food assistance programs in our database for the East, Middle, and West Tennessee Regions. Please give us a call for a customized resource search for your needs.
