We always like to shine a light on organizations that go above and beyond for the disability community. But this month, we want to shine a light on something a little different since it’s Disability Pride Month, The Tennessee Disability Coalition’s Disability Pride Month Billboards last year! Did you see them?
Imagine driving along and all of a sudden, there it is a symbol of pride for all individuals living with a disability. Well no need to imagine anymore, because the Tennessee Disability Coalition (TDC) made it happen. They did it! The billboards were created to be showcased during Disability Pride Month, a time to celebrate the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and our Disability Identity, Culture, Community, and Pride.
So if you lived in the Middle Tennessee or Memphis areas, you probably saw them. Unfortunately this year, they weren’t able to be renewed. However, we wanted this to be a reminder to you that Disability Pride is something that is always front and center in our lives. Whether it is with a billboard, a t-shirt or you say it out loud, advocating for yourself and letting your voice be heard matters!
