Have Medicare questions? Looking for unbiased counseling and assistance? If you are a Medicare-eligible individual located in Tennessee– you’re in luck! The Tennessee State Health Insurance Assistance Program (TN SHIP), administered by the Tennessee Commission on Aging and Disability, is here to help answer your Medicare questions. While it may sound too good to be true, this federally funded program has one mission– to empower, educate, and assist Medicare-eligible Tennesseans and their caregivers so they can make the best decisions for themselves or their loved ones. Nationwide, the SHIP program has helped hundreds of thousands of Americans save millions of dollars.

In addition to their counseling services, TN SHIP also provides an easy-to-navigate webpage covering Medicare Preventative Health Benefits where you can find Medicare’s list of preventative services, how often they’re covered, and the amount of coverage provided. Here you can also find their prescription plan worksheet which can be used to prepare a personalized comparison report to guide your decision making. To best meet the needs of all Tennesseans, TN SHIP hosts regional events that Medicare-eligible Tennessee residents and their caregivers can attend to learn more about Medicare and the services it provides.

If you’re looking to learn more about Medicare or find an upcoming regional event, you can contact TN SHIP by phone at 877-801-0044, by email at tn.ship@tn.gov, or through their contact form on the TN SHIP website.

Looking to volunteer with TN SHIP? Due to their partnerships with community centers and organizations, they are always looking for additional help when it comes to educating Tennesseans on Medicare and its services. Volunteer positions include administrative roles, counselor roles, media roles, MIPPA roles, and more. Those interested in volunteering can contact Olayinka Kasunmu by email at Olayinka.Kasunmu@tn.gov or by phone at 615-532-9002.
