Navigating Resources for Aging Adults Workshop Series: Navigating DDA Services for Aging Adults, April 10

Meet the Presenter:

She oversees the Information & Assistance and Emergency Preparedness programs, working closely with nine area agencies on aging and disability across the state. With 32 years of experience in the field of aging, Shannon has dedicated her career to improving the quality of life for older Tennesseans. Her expertise includes Medicare outreach, state health programs, and emergency preparedness for seniors.

This webinar will be presented in English, with Arabic, ASL, and Spanish interpretations available upon request during registration. Registration is required.

iPhone Training for Blind and Low-Vision People
The National Federation of the Blind, Disabled to the Front, and TSU Department of Social Work and Urban Studies invite you to join them for this training series to support blind and low-vision people to best utilize their iPhones. They will meet in Training Room Two of Tennessee State University’s (TSU) Avon Williams instructional site (330 10th Ave N, Nashville, TN 37203) on two different dates for these free community trainings, each focusing on different types of techniques.
On Tuesday, March 18th  learn techniques for low vision users including spoken content, zoom, magnifier, contrast settings, and other navigational apps.
On Tuesday, March 25th lessons will be about voice-over techniques including gestures, typing methods, using the rotor, described content, and other useful apps for the blind.
Participants, please bring your own iPhone device and personal assistant (if needed). Want to make this a fun night out too? Then join us from 7:45 – 9:30 pm for the after-party at the Grand Hyatt rooftop restaurant Lou/Na. HAPI’s Phoenix Art Gala Rescheduled: Melodies of Recovery, An Evening of Renewal & Hope, March 20

Due to inclement weather, Healing Arts Project, Inc. (HAPI) had to postpone their 15th Annual Phoenix Art Gala in February. It has been rescheduled for Thursday, March 20, 2025, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. CT!  Join HAPI as they celebrate their talented artists and come together for a powerful cause.

Through visual arts and creative writing classes at peer centers across Middle Tennessee, HAPI empowers individuals in recovery to express themselves, develop coping skills, and build self-confidence. The organization supports underserved, low-income participants by showcasing their work in public exhibits and printed materials, fostering awareness and acceptance within the community.
