Celebrating Community: Tennessee Disability Pathfinder presents The Third Annual “The Compass Awards”

It’s the holiday season and the end of the year, a perfect time for gift-giving, celebration, and to pass out awards!

At the end of each year, Pathfinder hold nominations and awards recognizing community collaborators and their efforts and continued support of Pathfinder’s mission to provide disability resource information and support to individuals and families in Tennessee. This year is our Third Annual The Compass Awards.

Nominees have been notified and the winners will be announced here.  Here’s the breakdown of the awards and winners as Tennessee Disability Pathfinder Presents, The Compass Awards.

The Compass Contributors Award

The 2024 nominees for The Compass Contributors Award, each have gone above and beyond to provide content to Pathfinder’s newsletter and social media pages. The nominees for this award were chosen by Pathfinder’s Communications Manager and based on analytical data of engagement from The Compass readers.

The nominees:

  • Carolyn Naifeh, Our Place Nashville
  • Department of Disability & Aging

The Pathfinder team voted and the winner of The Compass Contributors Award is Carolyn Naifeh, Our Place Nashville.

Our Place Nashville empowers adults with developmental disabilities by providing homes that are affordable, work that is meaningful, and inclusive communities in which to live. To find out more about this program click the link above.

The Compass Information & Referral Awards (I & R Awards)

The Information & Referral Award & Information & Referral Multicultural Award goes to the individual or organization that assists Pathfinder through their outstanding collaboration in connecting people to Pathfinder and serving as a valuable provider for individuals needing services. The nominees for these awards were chosen by the Pathfinder team.

Nominees for the I & R Award:

  • Vanderbilt Eye Institute
  • Penny Johnson, TN Center for Decision Making Support

The Pathfinder team voted and the winner of The Compass I & R Award is the Penny Johnson, TN Center for Decision Making Support.

The Tennessee Center for Decision Making Support exists to provide easy-to-understand, accurate information about all decision-making support options for people with disabilities, in one place. The Center’s resources can benefit all ages and families.

Nominees for the I & R Multicultural Award:

  • Lacuna Autism Services
  • El Jefe Radio Station

The Pathfinder team voted and the winner of The Compass I & R Multicultural Award is the El Jefe Radio Station.

El Jefe Radio is the first Latin X radio station in Nashville, Tennessee serving all of Middle Tennessee and part of Georgia, Kentucky and Alabama. WMGC El Jefe can be listed to on 96.7FM, 105.3FM & 810AM.

 

What do The Compass Awards recipients receive?

The award recipients for each award will receive:

  • an official award letter,
  • a printable Award Certificate,
  • a Pathfinder Pack (filled with Pathfinder swag & a small gift),
  • a write-up in our newsletter,
  • an announcement posted on our media page, and
  • social media announcement.
