Navigating resources can be difficult, but differences in abilities, culture, and language can make it even more challenging. By bridging these differences, we aim to emphasize the connection to the necessary resources and support. We’re highlighting programs and sharing resources that address these challenges, fostering greater opportunities to utilize disability resources and creating stronger connections across abilities, cultures, and languages.
Understanding Developmental Milestones: Where to Turn for Support
by Jennifer Padron, Multicultural Services Coordinator, Tennessee Disability Pathfinder
If you are concerned that your child is not meeting their developmental milestones, it’s important to trust your instincts and start a conversation with your pediatrician. They can assess your child’s progress and guide you on whether any further evaluation or early intervention might be needed.
But what happens if you feel like your concerns aren’t being heard? That’s where Tennessee Disability Pathfinder comes in.
Our multicultural helpline is here to help families navigate the complex world of disability resources. We understand that cultural and language barriers can make it more challenging to access the support you need. That’s why we offer culturally sensitive case management and resource connections, ensuring every family – regardless of their background – can find the right services for their child.
