Mentorship Opportunities

EMPOWER VI Virtual Mentorship Program

Vanderbilt University Department of Special Education is looking for volunteers to join their virtual mentorship program between adults and youth who are blind or have low vision. They are currently recruiting:

  • high school (junior or senior) student Mentees who are blind or have low vision. They are accepting applications from TN residents. They are also accepting applications from residents from all other states, as long as the applicants live in rural communities.

Mentoring from adults can provide a supportive bridge for transition-aged youth, helping them build confidence, skills, and a path toward a successful future. With guidance and support from EMPOWER staff, Mentors can draw upon their lived experiences and expertise to encourage Mentees to navigate their postsecondary goals successfully.

They hope to wrap up recruitment and dive into Mentee-Mentor matching and training in August in preparation for mentorship during the 2024-2025 school year, so if interested please complete the below form now. More information about the mentorship program can be found on their website: Mentorship (empowervi.org)
