Dear Friends of Pathfinder,

As the month of October brings in a new season of holiday celebrations and festivities, we want to take a moment to think about what it means to recognize National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) every October. It is a time to acknowledge the progress that has been made in the workforce becoming more inclusive of people with disabilities and to recommit to an ongoing effort to close the employment gap between people with disabilities and people without disabilities. Although I can appreciate spotlighting this important issue, especially as an employee with a disability who values her job, I regret that it still merits an awareness campaign. I look forward to when an employment gap no longer exists because the workforce becomes equally and naturally inclusive of people with disabilities.

Until then, we hope that this issue of The Compass will provide helpful information to advance access and equity in employment for people with disabilities. As always, we encourage you to contact us for one-on-one help (800.640.4636) or visit TNPathfinder.org to search for resources.

Best Regards,
