The holiday season is officially here. That means decorations, gifts, food, drink, family time, traditions and simply being merry. However, there are plenty of ways to make sure that you and your loved ones do more than that. You can also use this time for reading with friends and family in the comfort of your home. We would like to invite you to broaden your horizon and explore new ways to involve your family. Below you will find some links with a multicultural perspective. Become creative and travel around the world experiencing how other cultures celebrate holidays, read along in Spanish with some of the animated stories or with celebrities. There are many options and innovative ways to celebrate too!

  • Around the Kampfire has a series of videos for holidays around the world that offer a unique experience to learn about other cultures.
  • Colorin Colorado is a term in Spanish used to end a story, like “…and they lived happily ever after” but does not translate exactly. It has stories and resources for English Language Learners and is bilingual.
  • Just Books Read Aloud has books in Spanish and other languages to be read aloud.
  • Story Online has videos of celebrities reading with families.
