New Year. New Beats.

Managing mental health can be a daunting and confusing task. Regulation Beats™ provides evidence-based emotion regulation therapy to help individuals decrease distress, expand self-awareness, and improve quality of life. Clients typically engage in 60 minute, 1 1 sessions using worksheets and a MIDI (musical instrument digital interface) controller. They play virtual instruments, analyze their brains/bodies, identify emotion labels, produce full songs, and more! Clients and caregivers walk away with the knowledge to navigate emotion-based challenges, supportive handouts or resources, goals to address on your own, and digital copies of your music. The unique program is composed of 25 different music production activities which exercise emotional understanding, identification, and influence. A combination of visual aids, adaptive seating, activity grading, and cuing is provided to ensure participants can engage as independently as possible. Interventions are designed to consider a variety of cognitive, physical, or behavioral challenges and are suitable for those across the lifespan. Any level of musical skill is appropriate. All materials and equipment are provided.

Regulation Beats™ was developed by Noah Perales, a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, in 2023. After a series of significant life changes, he personally experienced the benefits of producing music through the lens of emotion. He decided to bring this activity to the therapy clinic and began making songs with his clients. The benefits of this intervention were apparent. From there, he integrated his knowledge from Northern Virginia Community College’s accredited OTA program, Remington College’s Beat Production and Recording Arts Technology program, and 6 years of clinical therapy experience to create Regulation Beats™. In addition to running this specialized business, he works at Siskin Children’s Institute in downtown Chattanooga, where he is building out their new “Emotion Regulation Therapy” department.

Individuals interested in this service can reach out via email, phone, or social media direct message (information is attached below).
